Boat building with
marine aluminum alloys was a result of natural evolution at Klacko. The
company was for many years involved in fabricating welded structures of
many shapes and sizes and a boat hull is just another form of the process.
Precision and accuracy of layout is a major requirement. Aluminum alloy
hulls have many advantages over any composite materials construction method
and can be produced at competitive prices. Marine aluminum alloys have
great impact resistance for example and in collisions where other materials
would fail an alloy hull will escape with just a minor dent. It is corrosion
resistant to marine environment and painting of the hull is not necessary
unless required for aesthetic or cosmetic reasons. Maintenance requirements
are minimal and many consider aluminum alloy an ideal boat building material.
In the future projects, starting this year, Klacko plans to utilize computer
assisted manufacturing methods to reduce manufacturing cost and pass savings
to the end user.
